President Barack Obama says U.S. will defeat Al Qaeda and prevent them from Afghanistan will serve as a basis:

Almost ten years after the war in Afghanistan, launched after the 2001 attacks in the U.S., Obama said he understood the skepticism about the U.S. mission in that country. However, "we must not lose sight of what is at stake. As I speak, Al Qaeda continues to plot against us, and its leaders remain anchored in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan," Obama said.
