Hurricane Earl Path was about 75 kilometers (50 miles) east-northeast of the island of San Martin, about 250 miles east of Puerto Rico. Hurricane Earl began lashing the north of the Lesser Antilles with strong winds and heavy downpours having strengthened and reached Category 2 on the weekend. The hotels in the region dug while tourists took refuge in their rooms.
