NATO kills 40 Taliban in Afghanistan:
The rebels have attacked government officials and voters threatened to sabotage the electoral process in Afghanistan. Voting to elect 249 lawmakers are scheduled for 18 September. Also Tuesday, NATO said it was investigating allegations that eight civilians were killed and 12 others wounded in a coalition offensive in a remote mountain village in the northern province of Baghlan.
